Welcome! I’m Janna, tea fanatic, food lover, working mom and artist. I’ve been writing this blog about trying new foods and recipes for 4+ years so I can finally admit that yes, I’m also a writer. We’ve made a ton of progress since I’ve started and I’m happy with the current attitudes about new foods with my family. My rule for the kids is that they aren’t allowed to say they don’t like something unless they try it first. Getting them to try it is another story though. My husband is the pickiest of them all and does not agree with that rule and hates to have food “mixed together” which in general means no casseroles, soups or stews at this house. My new recipes each week are not mandatory for the entire family as I realize there are certain things they just aren’t ready to try yet.
Janna!! I am very proud and excited for you! Love you xoxo
I went through the same thing with my kids (now 22 and 13). I always used to say “Try it, Sam I Am” after the Dr. Suess Green Eggs and Ham book). The 13 year old is still “pretty picky. She still longs for “normal” food (read fries and hot dogs). Enjoying looking through your recipes – Jen (Food & Whine)

LOL. i don’t know how many times I’ve said those words myself to my two itty bitty foodies. (2 yrs & 4 yrs) Great blog!
I’m enjoying your blog! Love getting your new recipe posts…
Struggling with how to juggle full-time teaching, two kids, life at home, and busy schedules…. too tired to cook sometimes, but have my first garden EVER going!
Beautiful website!
I love your site and your Boston Cream Pie looks fantastic! It is one of my favorite desserts and I have a recipe that I’ll be baking during my 365 days of baking. I look forward to visiting your site frequently!
Hi Janna,
Katya asked me if she can make something for Easter for you. She really wants to bake a cake (carrot cake) or she can bake hot cross buns. Or maybe you have some ideas. But you being on vacation complicates this. How are you going to pick it up, for example? Please let me know what you think. Thank you. Tanya
No mixing of food?!?!?
So basically, your living in hell.
Like a prophet, Im sure you will rise their prejudices from the depths of misery.
Hi, I’ve just started writing a food blog and when I met my (English) husband, he wasn’t very adventurous with food either! My blogs all about really yummy food, a lot with an Asian influence because of my background. If you think it might help, I have some recipes on my blog that hopefully might give you some ideas? I love blueberries so your blueberry pops are on my wishlist for things to try out! Thanks for the recipe. My husband posted a blackberry jam recipe on my blog just recently too as it’s berry season now in the UK! http:thebigfatnoodle.com
Hi there, Loving the recipes here! I’m only young but I have a real passion for food, and your food blog is really good 🙂

I nominated you in my Liebster Blog Award 😀
I’m in the same boat as you — picky husband, picky eaters, although much older than yours. Definitely following your blog!
No food mixed together lol…. when I started mixing my food up I started to like so much stuff. My family still makes fun of me for not letting my food touch when I was a kid, but I’m the opposite now!
lovely!!!
Hello 🙂 I’ve nominated your blog for the lovely blogger award! See more at http://sezpets.wordpress.com/2012/06/09/one-lovely-blog-award/
I love flicking through your recipe index! I have my eyes on the butterscotch brownies teehee, I’ll have to make them at some point!
I think you are on the right track. I had 3 children all in a row , they are grown up now , but right from day 1 I took them for dim sum down in Chinatown in Calgary and introduced them to all the new things I could find . They are not afraid to eat anything and are very open minded when it comes to eating. If you stay away from refined products and use fresh real food and good home made spices instead of things loaded with msg and sodium you just cant go wrong they develop their taste buds for the real flavor . You have to start early to train them how to eat and they will be rewarded with good health and a love of food . It also helps when everyone helps out in the kitchen too, they get more interested in the food. We used to have a saying in my house ” Everybody Eats Everybody Works”.
